Thermocouple pre-amplifiers for T3Ster: T3STERTHCAM-J/ K

General description

The thermocouple pre-amplifiers were designed to allow an easy interfacing of J or K type thermocouples to any of the measuring channels of the T3Ster® equipment. The same amplifier can be used to connect thermocouple compatible one-point IR sensors (such as Cole-Parmer P-39669-0x) to the T3Ster® equipment. After having mounted the thermocouple (or IR sensor) to the pre-amplifier, the amplifier is to be plugged into a free measuring channel, see Figure 7-2.

The sensitivity parameter of the thermocouple used is to be specified in the Channel Attributes window of the T3Ster Measurement Control & Evaluation Tool (Figure 7-3).

Instructions for use

As shown in Figure 7-4, open the pre-amplifier enclosure (1) by lifting its cover upwards. Loosen the screw (3) of the thermocouple fixing plate (2), and the screws of the thermocouple connector (4). Drive the positive and negative ends of your thermocouple through the little plastic tube beneath the fixing plate. Push the positive and negative ends of your thermocouple into the IN+ and IN- sockets (see Figure 7-4) of the thermocouple connector (4) and tighten the screws in the connector. Tighten the screw (3) of the fixing plate (2) and close the enclosure (1) by firmly pushing down its cover. Connect the amplifier to the required measuring channel of the T3Ster® Main System Unit with cable (5). In the Channel Attributes window of the T3Ster software select sensor type J or K and set the sensitivity to 5mV/°C at the measuring channel in question. In normal operation potentiometers (6) and (7) should not be changed. If absolutely needed (e.g. wide range of absolute temperature measurement) adjust the offset with potentiometer (6).
