Adding and Removing Modules

Preparing your system
Be sure you have a small flat-head screwdriver before you attempt
to remove or install options. You also need a screwdriver to connect cables
to the back of the system unit.
Before you install or remove any module, you must take the following
steps to prevent circuit damage.
- Turn off the control computer and all peripheral devices
- Turn off the system unit
- Wait about one minute. This allows time for the power supply
capacitors to safely discharge.
- Remove all cables and power cords from the back of the system
unit
Installing a module card
- Be sure that the system preparation tasks are complete
- Remove the screws from the front of the system unit that hold
the filler plate. Save the filler plate in case you remove the module later.
- Insert the module connector into the open slot at the front
of the system unit. Handle modules by their edges only.
- Firmly press the module onto the backplane connector.
- Tighten the screws that hold the module in place.
- Connect external cables if required.
