Description:

In case the DUT is a diode-like, two-pole device, or the heat sensor is a diode or resistor in a complex chip an additional current source forcing a proper operating point is required for measuring current vs. voltage characteristics of the sensor element in the low-dissipation state.

Figure 5-6: Current sources of the QCUSO unit

The controllable current source of the TRNDR transistor driver unit provides the current for the high-dissipation state. One of the four outputs of the QCUSO quad current source module has to be connected to the sensor, too. Both currents bias the sensor in the powering phase. After switching-off the controlled TRNDR current source only the sense current from QCUSO remains on the sensor and the equipment records the cooling transient.

The four sense current sources can be used independently. The current of these sources is programmable. The same programmed value is set for all four sources.
