Start measurement – the toolbar button

This is the main control window for starting a measurement that can be invoked either by selecting the Start Measurement item of the Measurement menu or by pressing the above toolbar button.

Before starting the measurement you have to press the Confirm button verifying that the type of the measurement corresponds to the actual setup displayed in the Configuration field (see Figure 5-14a).

Pressing the Start button (Figure 5-14b) the measurement starts as defined in previous menus. You may interrupt a measurement any time pressing the Stop button. The measurement stops automatically when the specified time limit is reached.

In the area with a log-lin coordinate grid the actual reading of the Main channel is displayed (see Figure 5-14c). This is the real-time value on the Main channel, thus enabling intervention if extreme temperature changes occur (in emergency press the STOP button on the digital control unit of the T3Ster equipment).

After several trial measurements you may save your final results by pressing the Save button in the Measurement window. It will display the Save Measurement window as shown in Figure 5-15.

Before pressing the Save button an optional Comments: field for recording the objective and circumstances of the measurement can also be added to measurement data to be saved.

Pressing the Save button in the Save Measurement window the following data will be written into two alphanumeric files:

T3STERPROJECT.PAR the user defined parameters of the measurement,
T3STERPROJECT.RAW the raw (unprocessed) transient measurement results, without any initial transient correction,
T3STERPROJECT.REC the raw (unprocessed) transient measurement results, with initial transient correction - if any,

where T3STERPROJECT is the file name you specified. Later on you may refer to these data as one of your T3Ster projects – the results of the evaluation will be also saved using this file name. The file name of the actual T3Ster project can be specified as usual in Windows (either enter a file name in the corresponding input field or select a name by browsing in your folders – in this case the already existing data will be overwritten). Actual writing of files takes place if you press the Save button of the Save Measurement window or press the CTRL-S hotkey.
