Set measuring parameters - the toolbar button

Figure 5-3: The Set Measuring Parameters window

This control window (invoked by selecting the Set Parameters item of the Measurement menu or by pressing the above toolbar button) allows setting generator values, timing and sampling parameters of the T3Ster equipment. These are:

Emitter Current (input field) :

Range: -2 ... 0 A on IE- for n-type transistors
Range: 0 ... 2 A on IE+ for p-type transistors
LSB: 1 mA
Values take effect by clicking the button.

The current generator is switched ON/OFF on the POWER flag as determined by the Powering wait/run buttons, if the front panel switch IE is in the middle (PC) position on the T3Ster equipment.

UCB Voltage (LOW , HIGH) (input fields)

Range: -10.24 ... 10.24 V on UCB LSB: 5 mV
Values take effect by clicking the button.

The voltage generator is switched HIGH/LOW on the POWER flag as determined by the Powering wait/run buttons, if the front panel switch UCB is in the middle (PC) position on the T3Ster equipment.

Sensor Current (input field)

Range: -25.5 ...25.5 mA on Isense outputs
LSB: 0.01245 mA

Not influenced by the POWER flag (NOT switched on and off during the measurement).

button

updates the above settings in the power units of the equipment. Pressing CTRL-U as shortcut key is equivalent to pressing this button.

Powering wait/run buttons

select whether the POWER flag will be switched off before and after the measurement and switched on while measuring or vice versa. The button has immediate effect, regardless to the button.

Selecting the OFF/ON button the generators will go from OFF to ON and from LOW to HIGH state when starting the measurement and revert state at the end. When pushed in, the button will be colored yellow:

Selecting the ON/OFF button the generators will go from ON to OFF and from HIGH to LOW state when starting the measurement and revert state at the end. When pushed in, the button will be colored yellow:

Time limit (input field)

sets the length of the recorded transient heating curve (or cooling curve).

Measurement delay (input field)

sets the temperature equalisation time before starting the measurement.

Samples pro octave (input field)

The equipment is controlled in order to obtain a quasi-logarithmic change of the sampling rate as the measurement proceeds. This parameter determines the density of the samples specifying the number of those within one octave on the logarithmic time axis.
