The T3Ster software is dedicated to user sites where a T3Ster configuration is being used. The Win32 version of the T3Ster software starts on any computer that a T3Ster equipment is connected to and the software is able to detect the presence of the hardware (i.e. the equipment is switched on) and a valid license key file. In any other cases, to use the program (of course for results evaluation purposes only) a valid license key file must be available for the software.
The T3Ster software like other MicReD programs on Win32 platforms uses a so called node locked licensing scheme: license key files are bound to a specific computer through the computer name and through an ID number obtained from the actual PC hardware hosting the installed software.
Once the T3Ster software detects that it requires such a license file but no such file is present, it pops up a window with these identifiers, see Figure 3-16.

Send these data (host name, host id) to MicReD to obtain a license key for the computer in question. Press the OK button to terminate the program.
Terms and conditions of using the T3Ster software are defined in an End-User License Agreement (EULA). These include e.g. licensing period (finite / infinite) and the number of computers (on top of the measuring computer itself) that may run the software.
License key files are provided by MicReD either by electronic mail or on floppy diskettes. Once a key file is obtained, it must be copied to the T3Ster software installation folder or one folder above.
In case you are using multiple MicReD programs (such as the T3Ster software together MicReDs THERMODEL program see section 5.3.2 or the T3Ster-Master program), MicReD may issue one license file only with keys for all MicReD programs licensed for the computer in question. In this case it is advised to install all MicReD programs into the same, common root folder (such as suggested by the setup wizards of the MicReD programs such as shown in Figure 3-1) to let each program find the license key file.
The basic options, the thermostat options and the booster options are licensed by different keys. Keys for the thermostat unit and/or for the booster units are automatically provided when such units are purchased.
