Pre-installation tasks

The T3Ster equipment is controlled by a PC through a proprietary, high-speed parallel interface card of MicReD (shipped with the T3Ster equipment if ordered so) or through the LPT port of your computer6. Based on your order decide which installation procedure is to be followed. Pre-installation tasks are needed only if you have a T3Ster equipment with the high-speed parallel interface card option.

The card is factory set to the I/O port address 0x300 that is free in most cases. Before using the T3Ster equipment with the present Win32 version of the measurement control & evaluation software, one has to check, if the above default port address is really free. If not, a free I/O port address has to be identified and selected in your operating system and the PC interface card has to be set to this selected free port address.

Appendix B describes how to identify the free port addresses. For changing the hardware settings on the parallel interface card, please refer to section 6.2 of the T3Ster Hardware Reference Guide7.

6From 2002 on this is default ordering option of any T3Ster equipment.
