November 2005: The new USB interface for T3Ster has been completed. The new release of the measurement control software of the equipment includes the support of the USB card. The new USB interface & software can be ordered to replace any previous interface option of the equipment. The USB card provides the data link to the T3Ster extension box and also provides a connector for an external trigger input signal. The USB interface card can be obtained with the new extension box for T3Ster or it is available in the framework of maintenance agreements free of charge.

Accelerated measurement channels have been released by the T3Ster hardware development team. Some devices are thermally faster than electrically. That is, large electrical transients disturb the thermal transients in the time constant range of 5-40 µs. This new type of measurement card helps getting rid off such parasitic electrical transients. This way structure functions reveal much more structural details close to the junction. They are plug-in compatible with the existing, standard measurement cards of T3Ster. Such measurement cards are available in the framework of T3Ster maintenance agreements free of charge.

The extension box for T3Ster is available now. It provides up to 3 additional power driving modules with quad sensor current sources. The extension boxes (up to 2) are connected to the T3Ster Main System Unit with a simple digital data link. Up to two extension boxes can be connected to the T3Ster Main System Unit - this way 7 power driving modules (one in the T3Ster, 2x3 in the two extension boxes) and 8 measurement channels are available. This makes measurement of e.g. multi-chip modules, stacked die packages or power LED modules with multiple LEDs easy and automated.

MicReD provides solution for RthJC measurements. MicReD's T3Ster technology and related results evaluation is capable of performing RthJC measurements very quickly, in a very accurate, reliable and highly repeatable way.

MicReD and Inphora launch TERALED for power LED-s. Based on their experince, MicReD have realized that simple thermal transient testing of power LED-s is no longer sufficient for ato correctly characterization characterize of such devices.

Power LEDs reached a light conversion efficiency of about 25-30% and an operating power level of 1to10W. Thus, if thermal impedance of power LEDs is to be measured correctly, the emitted optical power has to be measured. To address this MicReD established a strategic partnership with Inphora Inc. As a result, the two companies developed a setup for the combined ThErmal and RAdiometric measurement of power LEDs, called TERALED. It can be used for K-factor calibration, thermal testing and optical measurements. TERALED is available from MicReD as a T3Ster accessory. TERALED is also available in a stand-alone version (solely for optical measurements) from Inphora. In this case usual optical parameters can be measured with high precision as functions of temperature.
